The Volcano Club Trademark - Randall Hall Senter - West.
I mentioned in an earlier post that I'm currently watching X-Files. I am not rewatching it as part of some nostalgia trip, I've never watched it before so it's all very exciting, people always tell me to watch cool new programmes but I'm like "I'm only just getting round to watching X-Files, I hadn't watched Buffy until this year, I'm not gonna watch fucking House of Cards'. This post however is not just about what 90s TV shows I have and haven't watched, which would really fucking interesting. I have known for some time that there was likely to be a volcano X-Files episode.
Club La Santa Öffnung für März geplant, Volcano Triathlon erst im.
It's called Firewalker and it was actually a really good episode, its in the mould of some of my favourite episodes which are monster of the week ones in some remote and claustrophobia inducing setting where everyone goes mad and no one is sure who is sane/alien/trying to kill everyone. It was also notable as it's the first episode Scully's in for a while, obviously I knew that she was coming back as there are shitloads more series but it was good to have her straight talking and impeccable suit wearing back. This is all in the settling of one of the lovely cascade volcanoes with some silicon based life form and people going mental.
The Volcano Golf Course and Country Club has permanently closed, leaving the future of a beloved Big Island destination in doubt. The 18-hole golf course, located near Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, opened nearly 100 years ago on a 156-acre parcel of land that was leased by Kamehameha Schools to its current tenants in 1982. However, those tenants announced without warning last week that the golf course would close and its business operations would be dissolved, said Alapaki Nahale-a, Hawaii Island senior director of Kamehameha Schools’ community engagement and resources.
“We were surprised and disappointed to hear it,” Nahale-a said. “We want the businesses on our lands to succeed.” Nahale-a said the golf course managers did not give a reason for its closure, and they could not be reached Friday by the Tribune-Herald for comment. However, the closure — which was announced to Kamehameha Schools last week, but only revealed to the public on Friday — came in the middle of a global pandemic that led state officials to mandate the closure of nonessential private businesses. Although private golf courses have been allowed to reopen on Oahu and Maui, only the Hilo Municipal Golf Course has been allowed to reopen on the Big Island, which it will do on May 11. The Country Club also was gutted in a fire last November, sustaining an estimated 5,000 in damage.

Nahale-a said Kamehameha Schools is “deeply tied to our land holdings,” and will carefully consider how to balance the land’s educational, economic and cultural values before making any decisions about the property’s future. “We don’t want to rush into any long-term decisions, but we also don’t want people to wait too long,” Nahale-a said. “We are already engaged in discussions about what our decisions might be.” Nahale-a said it is possible that Kamehameha Schools will choose to “stay the course” and keep the property as a golf course for the foreseeable future, noting that the property is well-loved by travelers and locals alike, including residents of the neighboring subdivision.
Because the tenant’s lease agreement was scheduled to continue until 2024, Nahale-a said Kamehameha Schools must first transition the property back to its own management. Kamehameha Schools is seeking bid proposals for new managers of Volcano Golf Course and Country Club after the previous managers abandoned the lease. In May, the previous manager of the 156-acre property — Kailua-Kona-based corporation Hawaiian International Sporting Club — abruptly announced its dissolution and closed the golf course four years before its lease with Kamehameha Schools was to be terminated.
Since then, Kamehameha Schools filed a lawsuit in the First Circuit Court in Honolulu, requesting the court to nullify the lease and return the property to Kamehameha Schools. The trust regained full possession of the property in August and announced Tuesday that bid proposals from prospective new managers of the course are being accepted.
Alapaki Nahale-a, Kamehameha Schools’ senior director of community strategies, said the trust has received inquiries about managing the property since HISC dropped out, but could not provide specifics about any actual proposals yet. “We’re looking for someone who can fit all our core values, not just someone who can make it financially profitable,” Nahale-a said, referencing the school’s five values of community, culture, economics, education and environment. Many terms of the new lease, including its length, will be determined through negotiations with the winning bidder, Nahale-a said.

However, because of the substantial investment required by the managers, he added that Kamehameha Schools is pursuing a long-term lease. While HISC became the lessee of the property in 1999, that lease originally began in 1969 and was set to expire in 2024. The new manager will be responsible for restarting golf course operations and other amenities. Since HISC abandoned the lease, the property had fallen into disrepair until Kamehameha Schools regained control of the property. The trust has since been maintaining the property, but the course remains closed. Nahale-a said the terms of the lease may allow for an interim management policy that could allow the course to resume operations before the new management officially takes control of the property. The lease also will include terms for rebuilding the country club on the property, which was damaged by a fire 2019 and has not been repaired.
That fire caused an estimated $315,000 in damage and was still under investigation as of June. Nahale-a did not have an estimate for how long the process of finding new management will take, saying it depends largely on the quality of the proposals.
